Diversity empowers and enriches our university. It makes us stronger as an institution and enables us to better serve Mississippi and the nation.
And so I am pleased to know that approximately 25 percent of Mississippi State students—and 29 percent of entering freshmen—represent minority groups.
We recognize that much more remains to be done, particularly in the ranks of faculty, administrators, and professional staff. We have made progress in all of those categories, but we recognize the need to intensify our efforts and we are setting ambitious new goals accordingly.
Our Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion provides great leadership and service to our campus community as we focus on our commitment to make Mississippi State inclusive and responsive to the many constituencies we serve.
We welcome the interest and involvement of all who share that vision.
